Almost 1000 years ago, the Somnath Temple in Gujarat was looted by Mahmud Ghazni, who came with less than 100 men and successfully looted the temple guarded by over 1000 priests. Looking back to a time when the primary weapons were swords, knives, and sharp objects, which most organized societies possessed, it raises the question of how Mahmud succeeded in a land that was once ruled by the great King Ashoka. An area rich in the history of brave people could not defend the temple. Why?

Before continuing down a path of Muslim hate, it is crucial to ask why the kingdom in which this temple was located did nothing to stop Mahmud Ghazni from looting it. The answer lies in the caste system that was abused in states like Gujarat, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and likely even Rajasthan.

Ninety percent of the people from lower castes were denied entry to this temple to offer their prayers and therefore had no connection with the deity worshipped by the rich and higher caste people inside. These lower-caste individuals were used to perform all the menial tasks in these temples in the name of God, without receiving any labor compensation from the temple owners. The priests never paid anyone for any work, even in today's world, where the trustees decide on such matters.

An incident involving a Brahmin student from India, who had come to the USA to study and was living with me, refused a dinner invitation from my non-Brahmin friend, stating that he did not eat food cooked by a non-Brahmin. This highlights how people were treated in these states a thousand years ago. Those who were marginalized might have felt relieved when the Somnath Temple was successfully robbed, as the deity worshipped by the wealthy could not protect itself. Some may have even assisted Mahmud Ghazni in his efforts to loot the temple.

My friend from Punjab, who was inviting us for dinner, felt deeply humiliated by this incident. Despite coming from a privileged caste himself, he was appalled by the discriminatory behavior and wanted me to throw the Brahmin student out of the house as soon as possible. He remarked that he could now imagine how people from lower castes feel in India.

The people from that area are known for their craftsmanship and stonework, having built remarkable temples around the world. They are also known as clever businessmen. The inflated billions spent on temples get written off from their taxes, effectively making everyone in India pay for these temples in the name of God. This tax evasion means they don’t contribute billions in taxes to the government, a form of theft that has gone unnoticed.

Corruption in the name of temples in India and around the world is both sickening and immoral. The BJP seeks to govern India with this mindset, and people blinded by faith refuse to see the crimes committed against them and their nation.

मुस्लिम घृणा के इस रास्ते पर आगे बढ़ने से पहले, यह पूछना महत्वपूर्ण है कि जिस राज्य में यह मंदिर था उसने महमूद ग़ज़नी को इसे लूटने से रोकने के लिए कुछ क्यों नहीं किया। इसका उत्तर उन राज्यों में प्रचलित जाति व्यवस्था में निहित है जैसे गुजरात, महाराष्ट्र, उत्तर प्रदेश, मध्य प्रदेश और संभवतः राजस्थान।

नब्बे प्रतिशत निम्न जातियों के लोगों को इस मंदिर में प्रवेश करने और अपनी प्रार्थना करने से वंचित कर दिया गया था, इसलिए उनका उस देवता से कोई संबंध नहीं था जिसकी पूजा अमीर और उच्च जाति के लोग करते थे। इन निम्न जातियों के लोगों से इन मंदिरों में भगवान के नाम पर सभी गंदे काम करवाए जाते थे, बिना मंदिर के मालिकों द्वारा किसी भी श्रम के लिए भुगतान किए। पुजारी किसी भी काम के लिए किसी को भुगतान नहीं करते, यहां तक कि आज की दुनिया में भी इन मंदिरों में किए गए काम का निर्णय ट्रस्टी करते हैं।

महाराष्ट्र के एक छात्र का एक घटना, जो भारत से अध्ययन करने के लिए अमेरिका आया था और मेरे साथ रह रहा था, उसने मेरे गैर-ब्राह्मण मित्र के द्वारा दिए गए रात्रि भोज के निमंत्रण को यह कहते हुए अस्वीकार कर दिया कि वह गैर-ब्राह्मण द्वारा पकाया गया भोजन नहीं खाता। यह दिखाता है कि इन राज्यों में हजार साल पहले लोगों के साथ कैसा व्यवहार किया जाता था। वे लोग जो हाशिए पर थे, जब सोमनाथ मंदिर को सफलतापूर्वक लूट लिया गया तो शायद राहत महसूस कर रहे थे, क्योंकि अमीर लोगों द्वारा पूजा जाने वाला देवता खुद को बचा नहीं सका। कुछ ने शायद महमूद ग़ज़नी को मंदिर लूटने में सहायता भी की हो।

मेरा पंजाब से आया मित्र, जो हमें रात्रि भोज के लिए आमंत्रित कर रहा था, इस घटना से गहराई से अपमानित हुआ। खुद एक विशेषाधिकार प्राप्त जाति से होने के बावजूद, वह इस भेदभावपूर्ण व्यवहार से स्तब्ध था और उसने मुझसे कहा कि मैं उस ब्राह्मण छात्र को जल्द से जल्द घर से बाहर निकाल दूं। उसने टिप्पणी की कि अब वह समझ सकता है कि भारत में नीची जातियों के लोग कैसा महसूस करते हैं।

उस क्षेत्र के लोग अपनी कारीगरी और पत्थर के काम के लिए जाने जाते हैं, जिन्होंने दुनिया भर में अद्भुत मंदिर बनाए हैं। वे चतुर व्यापारी भी माने जाते हैं। मंदिरों पर खर्च किए गए फुलाए हुए अरबों रुपये उनके करों से लिखे जाते हैं, जिससे भारत में हर किसी को भगवान के नाम पर इन मंदिरों के लिए भुगतान करना पड़ता है। इस कर चोरी का मतलब है कि वे सरकार को अरबों रुपये के करों का योगदान नहीं देते, जो एक तरह की चोरी है जो अब तक नजरअंदाज की गई है।

भारत और दुनिया भर में मंदिरों के नाम पर की गई भ्रष्टाचार घृणास्पद और अनैतिक है। भाजपा इस मानसिकता के साथ भारत पर शासन करना चाहती है, और विश्वास से अंधे लोग उनके और उनके देश के खिलाफ किए गए अपराधों को देखने से इनकार करते हैं।
