Breaking News: Shoe Garland Offered By the Public to Modi
Breaking News: Shoe Garland Offered By
the Public to Modi
जूतों से ये पिटते
हैं
On May 29, 2024, as I was working on my post, I
wrote a poem on posted as a blog where I predicted this happening in this poem “https://rakeshinsightfulgaze.blogspot.com/2024/05/blog-post_28.html”
titled "सत्तर साल का हिसाब" a response to the BJP faithful to Congress on
the work it did for the nation. In this poem, there are two lines that I want
to highlight:
"सत्तर साल में जो किया हमने, उसका हिसाब हम देते हैं,
अगर दस साल की बात करें ये, जूतों से ये पिटते हैं।"
This poem discusses the accountability of past
governments for their actions over seventy years and contrasts it with the
current government's ten-year record, suggesting that they would face severe
public backlash if held to account. The prediction proved prophetic when,
shortly after the vote count concluded and Modi was re-elected as Prime
Minister, public outrage manifested dramatically—a shoe was thrown at Modi,
reflecting widespread discontent.
Many believe this election was manipulated,
with Modi having strategically placed loyalists in the Election Commission of
India (ECI) to secure the maximum number of seats. With the support of two
opportunistic parties, he formed a coalition government. Public dissatisfaction
is palpable, exacerbated by recent incidents such as a bridge collapse on the
eve of its inauguration, a devastating rail accident, and a significant exam
paper leak scandal. These events underscore the perception of mismanagement and
corruption within the government.
Adding to Modi's woes, during an inauguration
at Nalanda University, Bihar's Chief Minister Nitish Kumar publicly humiliated
Modi by ensuring he did not take credit for the university, which was funded
and developed during the Congress government's tenure. This incident was a
stark reminder of the contentious political climate Modi navigates.
In an attempt to salvage his position, Modi
sidelined Amit Shah and brought Rajnath Singh to the forefront, presenting him
as a more approachable figure. However, Singh's role as the Defense Minister
has been largely symbolic, with critical defense decisions made by Shah and
National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. Singh's apparent compliance is seen as a
result of compromising positions held by Modi and Shah over him, preventing him
from challenging their authority.
The current political scenario is akin to a
high-stakes poker game for Modi and Shah, but for the public, it represents a
profound betrayal of trust. In some contexts, this level of deception and
manipulation could be considered treasonous. As I have argued before, if Modi
were to face an independent press conference, his inability to justify his
actions transparently would likely force him to step down immediately, exposing
the extent of his administration's corruption.
This situation remains fluid and highly
charged, with each day bringing new developments and potential shifts in power
dynamics. The public's growing discontent and the opposition's strategic
maneuvers could lead to significant changes in the political landscape.
