Today, I had the unique opportunity to mingle with locals, where a senior citizen shared a joke that left everyone in stitches: "If Kamala Harris raises any more money, Melania Trump might just marry her!" This just underscores the remarkable fundraising feat by Kamala Harris, who has amassed a staggering $126 million in record time before the Democratic convention. This achievement is a testament to the immense excitement and support she has garnered as the face of the Democratic Party.

One of the largest Democratic Super PACs proudly announced they have raised over $150 million, signaling an electrifying momentum among Democratic voters. This financial surge points to an enthusiastic base eagerly awaiting the official nomination at the Democratic convention.

Amidst this excitement, today's headlines blared that Trump intends to abandon Ukraine and throw unwavering support behind Israel against Hamas. This stance has stirred controversy, even among Jews who find the Israeli occupation of the West Bank unacceptable. True peace in the region demands a political solution, not threats of war, which only worsen the situation. While some war-mongering Republicans might cheer for conflict, the majority see it as a burden America should avoid, leaving regional issues to be resolved locally. The Ukraine war, too, is viewed as a European issue needing local leadership for resolution, with Russia unlikely to end the conflict without concessions.

The pressing question is, which candidate is better suited to negotiate peace and bring parties to the table? It's certainly not Trump, who has been criticized for his compromised stance and perceived puppet-like behavior toward Putin during his presidency. Trump's controversial past, including the infamous "Pee Pee tapes," casts a long shadow over his integrity and capability.

On the other hand, Kamala Harris is emerging as a formidable candidate, with over 80% of Democrats rallying behind her. This overwhelming support suggests a united Democratic front as they head into the election. Hollywood's endorsement, notably from George Clooney, has further boosted her campaign, signaling robust backing from influential circles.

A heartening sight in our town has been the spontaneous display of handwritten Kamala Harris posters in yards, reflecting genuine grassroots support. Her candidacy resonates deeply with young college students, and women—especially women of color— and she’s expected to garner significant support across these demographics. Kamala's focus on middle-class policies and healthcare for seniors, areas where Democrats traditionally excel, strengthens her appeal.

Kamala Harris’s impeccable public service record positions her as a leader ready to serve the American people, contrasting starkly with Trump, a convicted felon accused of selling national secrets for personal gain. The choice is clear: another four years of a self-serving felon or a dedicated public servant with a stellar resume.

As memories of COVID-19 and the government's failures in handling it remain fresh, this election becomes a crucial turning point. Kamala Harris represents a new chapter, building on Biden's legacy with a vision for the future. The Democrats, invigorated by her candidacy, are ready to fight and win.
