In a recent discussion, I
encountered someone who was convinced that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's
stellar leadership, India has magically become free from terrorist attacks.
They even brought up the Balakot strike, proudly highlighting it as a response
to the Pulwama terrorist attack. Well, imagine my surprise this morning when I
learned about yet another terrorist attack in Kashmir, where five Indian
soldiers, including higher-ranking officers, lost their lives. To add to this,
since June 4th, 2024, there have been eight such attacks in India. These pesky
facts don’t align with the fantasy of a terror-free nation under Modi.
During the Congress rule,
terrorist attacks used to grab national media attention, but now they barely
make a blip on the radar. The general public remains blissfully unaware and
feels wonderfully safe, much like a pigeon burying its head in the sand while a
cat approaches. I had no idea that under this administration, intellect would
take such an extended vacation.
Let’s not forget the Balakot
airstrike, often paraded as a shining example of Modi's decisive leadership.
However, this strike was a reaction to the Pulwama terrorist attack, which
could have been avoided if the government had taken proper measures to protect
those soldiers. Even the then-Governor of Jammu and Kashmir pointed out
security lapses that, if addressed, might have prevented the Pulwama tragedy.
So, rather than being a proactive success, the Balakot strike was a reaction to
a preventable failure.
Trying to have a logical
discussion with hardcore BJP followers is like trying to talk sense into a
wall—except walls don’t talk back with mindless arguments. It's as if their
intellect has gone on a long vacation, leaving behind only unwavering loyalty.
It’s frustrating to engage with those who argue without concrete data, defying
all logic. It forces one to think you are talking to a wall—sorry, even a wall
doesn’t talk back with mindless support.
Even prominent figures like Sri
Shankaracharya Ji criticize Modi's administration, calling him a "fake
Hindu." According to Shankaracharya Ji, anyone who propagates violence and
betrays public trust stands against Hindu principles of truth and integrity.
Yet, acknowledging this would require intellect and critical thinking, which
seem to be in short supply among Modi's ardent supporters. As one post aptly
put it, "We are less afraid of stupid people losing the nation but should
be afraid of those who are smart but pretend to be stupid, allowing the
downfall of a nation."
Sri Shankaracharya Ji has also
accused the government of stealing 228 kg of gold from a temple, an accusation
that the media has conveniently ignored. The media has taken on the role of
cheerleader rather than watchdog, failing to hold the government accountable
and keeping the public in the dark. This lack of scrutiny allows corruption and
incompetence to flourish unchecked.
Despite these challenges, it is
crucial to continue efforts to educate and inform the public. Many of Modi's
followers are friends and family members who might be unaware of the realities
due to their diet of government-controlled news. Encouraging them to look
beyond the carefully edited propaganda and seek out reliable data is essential.
The current state of affairs underscores the need for citizens to ask tough
questions and hold their leaders accountable.
In conclusion, the fairy tale of
a terrorist-free India under Modi's leadership does not hold up under scrutiny.
Recent attacks and the government's mishandling of security and corruption
issues highlight significant challenges. The media must fulfill its role in
informing the public, and for citizens to engage critically with the
information they receive. Only through vigilant and informed citizenship can
India hope to address these pressing issues effectively. So, perhaps it’s time
for Modi's supporters to call back their intellect from its extended vacation
and open their eyes to the truth.
