Deception and Falsehood Rule India

From the earliest days in school, children are enthralled by the tale of Red Riding Hood, a story where a cunning wolf disguises himself as Red Riding Hood’s grandmother with a sinister plan. The timeless moral? Always verify who you’re dealing with before trusting them. Fast forward to adulthood, this lesson remains as vital as ever, especially in the intricate world of politics.

Imagine an individual with no scientific background claiming that cooking gas can be extracted from open-flowing gutters. Such absurdity might sound laughable, but when such claims come from someone in a position of power, the danger becomes real. This highlights the crucial need for public vigilance and informed skepticism.

The Indian Political Drama

Take a closer look at India’s political arena. Before the 2014 elections, inflation was a hot-button issue. BJP leaders dramatically carried cooking gas cylinders on their heads, protesting soaring prices. Today, with the cost of cooking gas skyrocketing from 400 Rupees to 1200 Rupees, those once vocal leaders now stand silent. Where is the outrage? The silence is deafening and speaks volumes about political hypocrisy.

Questions about the legitimacy of elections further muddy the waters. Allegations of electoral malpractice cast a long shadow over the democratic process, eroding public trust. In a system where justice moves at a glacial pace, the powerful often escape scrutiny, leaving citizens disillusioned and disempowered.

The Elite's Extravagance

Consider the recent opulence displayed at a high-profile wedding where a staggering 5000 Crore Rupees were spent. To recoup this lavish expenditure, phone service prices were hiked by 25%. Shockingly, there has been little to no accountability. This is a glaring example of how the elite manipulate systems to their advantage, unchallenged by enforcement agencies more focused on harassing political adversaries than pursuing real corruption.

Business and Media: The Puppeteers

The unholy alliance between business magnates and political leaders exacerbates this imbalance. When one raises prices, others follow suit, and the burden falls squarely on the common people. Despite widespread dissatisfaction, the same faces remain in power, thanks to a controlled media narrative that suppresses dissent and promotes complacency.

 Societal Influences and Misplaced Trust

Cultural and societal dynamics further complicate the picture. Religious leaders wield significant influence, often perpetuating harmful practices and ideologies. The stigmatization of alcohol, for example, leads to black-market sales benefiting private pockets rather than public coffers. Blind faith in these so-called spiritual leaders, despite their evident moral failings, reflects a deeper societal issue: the propensity to follow rather than question.

This creates a fertile ground for political figures who thrive on deception. Prime Minister Modi’s political career is a testament to this phenomenon. Dramatic infighting within his party, often staged for public consumption, distracts the populace from critical issues like economic policies and impending tax reforms.

The Path Forward

India’s current socio-political landscape is a complex web of deception, power plays, and cultural influences. The responsibility to untangle this web lies within the nation itself. Through heightened awareness, critical thinking, and unified action, the people of India can confront these challenges head-on. It's time to channel the moral of Red Riding Hood, to scrutinize the wolves in disguise, and reclaim the true power of democracy.

In this era of misinformation and manipulation, India stands at a crossroads. The path to a transparent and accountable system is steep and challenging, but with collective will and informed action, it is undoubtedly within reach. The story of Red Riding Hood taught us to beware of the deceptive wolf; now, it’s time for India to heed that lesson and ensure that the truth prevails.
