Unmasking Injustice: The Urgent Need
for Accountability in Modi's India
Unlawfully Held Fearless Leaders of
AAP
Even though I do not live in
India, it is disheartening to witness the blatant injustice that is unfolding
under the current government. The prolonged imprisonment of Arvind Kejriwal,
Manish Sisodia, and Satinder Jain without substantial evidence is unacceptable
for any law-abiding citizen who values democratic principles. If these
individuals are guilty, they should be tried in a court of law, and if found
guilty, they should serve their sentences as prescribed by the law. However,
keeping them in prison without concrete proof violates the fundamental
principles of justice.
The Supreme Court of India has a
crucial role in upholding justice and protecting citizens' rights.
Unfortunately, it has failed to intervene in these cases, despite clear
indications of injustice. The court's inaction is troubling, especially when
there is evidence that points towards the involvement of prominent figures in
corrupt practices. For instance, there are allegations against Prime Minister
Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, and J.P. Nadda of accepting ₹60 crore from the main
accuser in the crime these AAP leaders are accused of. This evidence has been
corroborated by the Supreme Court through the State Bank of India.
Furthermore, Modi and Shah's
alleged role in inciting violence in Gujarat, where Congress Party offices were
vandalized, is another serious accusation that requires investigation. Although
Adani returned the land illegally allocated to him by Modi, this does not
absolve the crime. Modi should be held accountable for his actions and explain
his decisions to the nation.
The privatization policies under
Modi's government have also led to significant financial injustices. After the
elections, Reliance Jio increased its phone service charges by 25%, a move that
previously would have required government approval. This price hike raises
questions about possible bribery and the funds the government may have received
to allow this increase. Such actions suggest a close nexus between large
corporations and the government, resulting in legal robbery of public funds.
The public deserves transparency and accountability, especially when policies
disproportionately benefit a few at the expense of many.
Corruption at this scale is
facilitated by political leaders who prioritize power over principles. Nitish
Kumar and N. Chandrababu Naidu, for instance, have been accused of compromising
their values to remain in power, thus enabling this systemic corruption. The
lack of awareness among voters, who often base their decisions on caste,
religion, and short-term financial incentives, further perpetuates this cycle
of injustice.
It is time for the nation to
awaken and demand justice. The public must hold their leaders accountable and
not be swayed by superficial or emotional appeals. Awareness and education are
key to empowering voters to make informed decisions that prioritize long-term
national interests over short-term gains.
India stands at a crossroads
where the values of democracy and justice are being tested. The public must
demand transparency and accountability from their leaders to ensure that
governance serves the people rather than a select few. Only through collective
vigilance and action can the nation overcome the injustices and pave the way
for a fair and just society.
