In a shocking display of compromised integrity, the Chief Justice of India (CJI) has thrown away the last vestiges of judicial impartiality by hosting the Prime Minister at his home for a Ganpati Pooja. What might seem like a simple religious celebration is, in fact, a blatant symbol of the cozy relationship between the judiciary and the executive—an alarming erosion of the boundaries that are supposed to keep the government’s three branches independent and accountable.

Let’s be clear: the people in this picture, smiling and engaging in rituals, are the embodiment of corruption. And yes, that now includes the CJI. By allowing the Prime Minister—who has been repeatedly accused of corruption, not just by political opponents but by international watchdogs and global media—to participate in this intimate event, the CJI has shattered any illusion of fairness and justice in his court.

The judiciary is supposed to be the last bastion of democracy, a place where the law is applied without fear or favor. Yet, when the head of this institution fraternizes with the very person whose actions are under scrutiny, how can we trust that justice will be served? How can the people of India believe that their Chief Justice is applying the law as it is meant to be, without bias, when he is socializing with a leader accused of being the most corrupt in the world?

This isn't just about appearances. The integrity of the judiciary is foundational to the rule of law. When the CJI entertains the Prime Minister, who has faced numerous allegations of corruption, at his own home, it is more than just poor judgment—it’s an outright betrayal of the trust that the people of India have placed in him. It explains why the judiciary has been slow to act on many of the complaints brought by the opposition. It sheds light on the inexplicable delays and the seemingly biased rulings that have left many questioning the court’s impartiality. The dots connect all too well: the CJI is compromised, and so too is the institution he represents.

Just yesterday, there may have been a sliver of respect left for the CJI, a hope that perhaps he was still upholding the law and delivering justice without fear or favor. But today, that hope is dead. The CJI has shown his true colors, and they are tainted by the same corruption that stains the Prime Minister he has chosen to entertain.

The people of India should be outraged. They should demand accountability, not just from their politicians, but from those who are supposed to be their protectors in the judiciary. The CJI has proven that he is no longer fit to serve as the head of India’s highest court. He has compromised his position and, in doing so, has compromised the very foundation of Indian democracy. The people must demand his immediate removal, for the sake of justice, for the sake of the nation, and for the sake of a judiciary that is supposed to stand above politics and corruption.

      This issue is very serious and for the CJI to have PM in his house doing pooja has destroyed the confidence in his ability to be just. This appearance makes him look compromised, a serious damage to the Republic of India. People have to be blind to ignore this act of the CJI and the PM and still allow the CJI to stay in power as the top justice of India, which means you do not understand the governance and responsibilities of the officials. It is so sad to see this and it angered me to my core.
